The Comet Landing

Am I the only one who is questioning the landing of the robotic spacecraft on the comet? This has got to be the biggest waste of time and money that has ever been wasted. My first problem is this: “Comets are believed to be pristine remnants from the formation of our solar system some 4.6 billion years ago. They contain rock and ice that have preserved ancient organic molecules like a time capsule and may provide insight into how the planets and life evolved.” Since I don’t believe in evolution, you can see why I think that God must laugh when he sees space missions like this. But even those who disagree with my first problem might share my second problem: Who paid for this? The spacecraft was sent up by the European Space Agency. I presume that this is funded by European taxpayers. Yet, how many of them would make a donation to send this spacecraft to this comet if they were personally asked for a donation? Would a private company spend billions to sent a ship to a comet to analyze it? Perhaps. But it would be private money that would be wasted, not taxpayer money.
