Lew: Nor can we forget the important role the auto industry played in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the U.S. Civil War, and the Spanish-American War. Where would we be now without the contributions of this important industry?
In addition to the trite “national security risk” as a justification for shelling out tens of billions of dollars for these guys, there is an even more compelling argument the congressman ought to have employed: “do it for the children!”
