ThankYou, James Garner

Writes David Romo:

The Rockford Files was a major influence upon me as a kid.

Although Rockford had an inside friend in the police force, he really didn’t get along with the police as an institution, and as a Korean War veteran, he really didn’t get along with the U.S. military either. He also didn’t trust the FBI and other feds.

If fact, that show was unusual for its time in having a healthy cynicism about all major U.S. institutions that were dutifully worshiped by cop and detective shows in the 1970’s.

It was from watching this show that I realized that the state and all its appendages was not as it was portrayed to be.

Thank you,  Jimmy Garner. Rest n Peace.
