Thanks for the Police State Republicans

Will Grigg’s article on Friday about the woman arrested, abused, and humiliated in Alabama for purchasing Sudafed should make your blood boil–unless you are a conservative drug warrior. The Republicans in the House and Senate who voted for the Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act, which makes criminals out of people who want Sudafed for their stuffy nose, and the Republican president who signed the bill (Bush), are despicable human beings despite all their talk about family values, less regulation, the Constitution, and limited government.

The Combat Methamphetamine Epidemic Act is title VII of the USA PATRIOT Improvement and Reauthorization Act of 2005. In the House, 207 out of 225 Republicans voted for the bill. Ron Paul, of course, voted no, and so did Walter Jones. In the Senate, every single Republican voted for the bill, including such great conservatives as Rick Santorum, John McCain, Richard Shelby, Mitch McConnell, and Jim DeMint. I told you DeMint was a drug warrior. The Republican Party is never going to be taken over by libertarians and made the party of liberty and limited government. It is a party of police statists.
