Thank You, Taxpayers

A friend of mine, who spent a few years “guarding” the South Korean border, sends his annual Veterans Day address:

Time for my obligatory Veteran’s Day post.

Thank you to all of you who paid your taxes (not that you had a choice) and through those taxes paid for me to live while I did a job chosen of my own free will. Thank you for paying for me to go to graduate school. Thank you for guaranteeing my mortgage years after I stopped working as a soldier. Thank you for getting up every day and working a job you probably don’t like only to have 25-45% of it taken away to fund things you have nearly zero say in. Thank you, productive American.
