Take the Log Out of Your Own Eye, Leviathan

We can debate which of government’s traits we most abhor: its outsized, omnivorous greed; its vanity and self-absorption; its brutality; its mercilessness and predation. For me, it’s the hypocrisy and double-standards, the State’s insistence that we all do what it says, not what it does, and its constant vilification of the “private sector” (is there really a private sector anymore in our totalitarian, fascist country?) for committing exactly the same crimes Leviathan does.

So we have  ”a federal judge … ordering tobacco companies to publish corrective statements that say they lied about the dangers of smoking.” That in itself is rich: an employee of a government that lies about everything, all the time, dares throw stones from her glass house. But it gets worse: “US District Judge Gladys Kessler” will force her victims “to pay for the statements in various types of advertisements…” Hmm. Do you suppose she or someone in her family hold interests in the media? Regardless, Gladys apparently considers herself a copywriter and has dictated the “corrective statements” said companies must run. Among them are these Pharisaical gems:

“Smoking kills, on average, 1,200 Americans. Every day.” Wonder if Gladys will oblige the Pentagon to run a “corrective statement” on its ads for recruits. Yo, Gladys: I’m  happy to write the copy for that one, and unlike you, I even have experience in the field. Resume and clips on request.

“Defendant tobacco companies intentionally designed cigarettes to make them more addictive.” Sounds like the public schools to me — intentionally dumbing down students to make them compliant serfs-sorry, citizens.

“All cigarettes cause cancer, lung disease, heart attacks and premature death—lights, low tar, ultra lights and naturals. There is no safe cigarette.” Ditto for government: all forms cause murder, thievery, deceit and premature death–democracies, dictatorships, constitutional republics or monarchies. There is no safe government.
