Syria: The Strange US/Israel/Al-Qaeda Ménage à Trois

A little more than a week after the extremists linked to Al-Qaeda by our own US government set up and murdered Ambassador to Libya Chris Stevens, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has announced that the United States would send an additional $45 million to the very same Al-Qaeda’s Syrian franchise.

Yes you read that right: The US is sending another $45 million to assist in Syria the same people it is fighting in Afghanistan and the same people who killed US Ambassador Chris Stevens in Libya.

Interestingly, the US, Israel, and Al-Qaeda all agree that the rebels in Syria, many of whom are foreign jihadists, must succeed in overthrowing the Assad government. That is like an all-you-can-eat luncheon buffet in front of hungry conspiracy theorists.

But in reality the “conspiracy” is out in the open.

Back in 1996, neo-cons wrote in the “Clean Break” strategy paper that was to be a foreign policy framework for then-Prime Minister Netanyahu, “Israel can shape its strategic environment, in cooperation with Turkey and Jordan, by weakening, containing, and even rolling back Syria.”

The United States is addicted to its own stale narcotic of “global democratic revolution” regardless of the chaos and destruction left in its wake. Regardless of the fact that it is undermining US interests overseas, isolating the United States from the rest of the increasingly resentful world, and turning the US military into a Soviet nightmare of a socialist jobs program. Many of those who continue to drive US foreign policy are the same people or of the same ideology as those involved in the preparation of the 1996 policy guidance for Netanyahu.

And of course the only democracy delivered by the US partners in formerly secular Arab states is one that drowns in oceans of innocent blood, leaving many of us to wonder about Lenin’s dream of “the worse the better.”

“Al-Qaeda” is in fact a loose and generic term for Saudi-supported movements which seek to destroy any secular Arab government. Saddam, Gaddafi, Assad, etc. They are there.

They are in bed together, it is undeniable. Syria is in their mutual crosshairs. It is hard to imagine the country surviving. As in the other countries “liberated” by this terrible troika, Christians and secular or moderate Muslims will be the first to have their heads on the chopping block. Radicals will take over. The worse the better. Iran is next. Israelis who want no part in this insane game will be left all the more vulnerable to blowback and backlash. The Middle East will be turned into a parking lot for the Armageddon Express…

As usual, Land Destroyer has many of the important details and links.
