Swiss Lawmakers Defy the Federal Government

Heroically, the Swiss National Council has rejected the government’s bid to destroy financial privacy in Switzerland. The vote wasn’t exactly the result of noble libertarianism or anything, but it did show the remnants of an independent streak in Swiss politicians who are now being told by the US to hand over information on Swiss bank accounts, or else.

The threats against the Swiss levied by the American state have no doubt been numerous and furious, but the Swiss are showing some reluctance.  Good for them.
