A long letter to the editor in The New American (Aug. 6) by New Hampshire State Rep. Robert Kingsbury recommends that everyone support their local police “because there is no general grant of police power to either federal or state police forces.” Everything he says in his letter about the Constitution granting only limited powers to the federal government is true. But does this mean we should support our local police? They are the main agents in the federal and state war on drugs. Take away the war on drugs and other victimless crimes and their workload would significantly diminish.
