Strom Thurmond and the Democratic Party

Because I have oppose, root and branch, practically every policy of the Bush administration (especially his wars in Iraq and Afghanistan), and because I often rail against the Republican Party, I get nasty e-mails from conservatives calling me a Democrat, a liberal, a leftist, or a communist. True, I rarely attack the Democratic Party, but not because I don’t think there is anything wrong with it. I just think it is a given that the Democratic Party is a pack of big government, bleeding-heart liberal socialists. Conservatives have been pointing this out for years. To my critics I now publically say that my opinion of the Democratic Party is that of Strom Thurmond.

Back in 1964, Strom Thurmond left the Democratic Party for the Republican Party, saying, among other things, that the Democratic Party was “leading the evolution of our nation to a socialistic dictatorship.”

And to my critics, I should also say that I would take it a step further. I believe the Republican Party is leading the evolution of our nation to a faith-based, compassionate, fascist dictatorship.

Down with the whole rotten two-party system. Neither party is the lesser of two evils.
