Some more Hippie music

Daniel, Neil Young’s Living with War is a true masterpiece, but I prefer the just-released “Living with War: In the Begaining. This is how the songs should be heard, no choir, no effects, just Neil Young, his guitar, and his band.

Of course, Neil Young has been writing great anti-war/political songs for decades, including Ohio, inspired by the Kent State shootings, and Helpless.

Neil recorded the last two as part of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. Graham Nash, the N in CSNY, deserves mention in for his great song Chicago, inspired by the events surrounding the 1968 Democratic convention and the subsequent trial of the Chicago Eight, while Stephen Stills wrote the classic For What It’s Worth when he was in Buffalo Springfield with Neil Young.

My favorite Neil Young political song is Campaigner for the great line “Even Richard Nixon has got soul.”
