Israel, we are continually told is a democracy like us. This is usually given as a reason to dole out millions in foreign aid (taxpayer money). Yet, Israelis just played the music of Richard Wagner in Germany. So what you ask? Well, the music of Wagner has been unofficially banned in Israel for decades. And it was only in 2008 that a real ban on the Beatles was lifted.
Banning music and musical groups? Some democracy.
