Socialism Under the Seas: The Latest Neocon Adventure

During her rubberstampconfirmationhearing Condoleeza Rice announced that the Bush administration is in favor of the Law of the Sea Treaty, which President Reagan rejected in 1982. (Hey, I thought the neocons were the political descendants of Reagan!). This would declare the minerals under the sea, and any technology used to extract them, as the “common property of mankind” (just like communism) to be allocated by –get this — the United Nations. Global underwater socialism, in other words.

Doug Bandow wrote a lot of excellent articles in opposition to this atrocious one-world-government scheme in the 80s, and many of them can probably be uncovered by an internet search, maybe even ofnthe Cato Institute’s web site.
