So THAT’s What Has the Ruling Class’s Panties in a Wad

Since the Southern Poverty Pimp (Oops, I mean, Law) Center recently lied by calling me a “longtime activist” of the League of the South (based on the fact that I spoke to a few dozen students about 19th century tariff and monetary economics over a two-day period at one of their events over a decade ago), I thought I’d look at the “League” Web site to see what generates so much unmitigated hatred at the SPLC, some of the dumber members of Congress, Paul Krugman, Dana Milbanks, and various assorted leftist knuckleheads. I think I found what I was looking for.

In the “League” Declaration of Southern Cultural Independence they state that the cultural heritage they wish to preserve consists of “faith, family, tradition, community, private property, loyalty, courage, honour.”

On the issue of race, they say “true Constitutional government would provide protection to all law-abiding citizens” regardless of race, creed, or anything else.

The League says it “disavows a spirit of malice and extends an offer of good will and cooperation to all Southern blacks . . .”

Most of the rest of the site contains strongly worded denunciations of the federal welfare/warfare state.  This of course is what really bugs the Southern Poverty Pimp Center and its comrades.
