Signs of Life?

In ancient Athens there was a practice known as ostracism, whereby every year if enough people wrote a particular person’s name on a pottery shard, that person was sent out of Athens for ten years. People who were perceived as a threat to society in some way could thus be dealt with (many a politician and military leader fell victim).

Out of curiosity, one of my colleagues has started asking her freshmen whom they would ostracize. Well, some of them say Michael Jackson and other cultural figures like him. But you know who has come in first in every single class she has? George W. Bush.
