Sickening Display

Is that the Soviet or the German imperial general staff I’m watching on MSNBC? No, it’s the “perfumed princes of the Pentagon,” as the late Col. David Hackworth called the political generals and their political medals, lined up to intimidate Congress during their lying testimony.

As David Gordon points out, in more constitutional days, military officers like Douglas MacArthur wore dark blue suits when they testified, to honor the separation of powers and civilian supremacy.

That was before 9/11 solidified a Turkish-style militarist regime. Now, no one can even criticize a non-combatant Rumsfeldian pol in a government suit pinned with the Halliburton Medal of Honor, the Distinguished City-Leveling Medal, and the Legion of Death.
