Should There Be a Right to Keep 80% of Your Income?

The Project to Restore America sells some good books and posts some good articles, but I am perplexed by one of its goals: to amend the Constitution to recognize the “right for every American to keep 80% of his/her income.” I would like to restore America to pre-1913 days when there was no income tax and you could keep 100% of your income. Never going to happen, you say. I think there is just as much of a chance as the government only limiting itself to taking 20% of your income.

Update: A reader sent me this quote from Richard Henry Lee: [If Parliament] may take from me one shilling in the pound, what security have I for the other nineteen? How about an amendment letting Americans keep 95% of their income?
