Should the Weston A. Price Foundation Give a Friendly Nod to Ron Paul?

A friend, who is a libertarian foodie, homeschooling Mom, and a member of the Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF), wrote me an interesting email:

The Real Food Media does a terrific job of promoting the teachings of Weston A. Price. I realize their role is not to endorse political candidates (I’m sure I’d despise them if they did), but since the Rawsome raid is front-and-center on everyone’s mind, would it have been out of the question, for them, to at least make their readership aware of RP’s stance on raw milk, and link to his money bomb?

I don’t want to ruffle feathers unnecessarily, as I like these people and will see them at the conference in Dallas. I do get tired of this ~Can you believe what they are doing to us~ mentality, and yet somehow they believe discussing politics is too controversial, and should be off limits. They always want to keep discussions bipartisan. I can’t stand that idea because I think it connotes an inability to decipher right from wrong!

I completely agree with my friend. Considering the magnitude of this war on food choice, the Rawesome raid should have convinced WAPF that they need to give Ron Paul approval, or, in the least, point out his supportive position on food freedom. Better yet, they could invite him to speak at the November WAPF conference in Dallas, and that would engage him on the overall Real Food-Food Freedom topic. This could be done without an explicit political endorsement.

Politics is not too controversial, and this is because we know the definition of “politics” in terms of the politics of food: choice by force. And the force comes from a gang of bullies who have a monopoly on coercion. As long as Big Guv uses the guns of politics to suppress that which WAPF promotes, WAPF needs to fight back with sufficient weaponry. Educating people on the food issue is no longer adequate because folks can no longer exercise their rights to act on that education.
