Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel, who spoke last year at a Pentagon LGBT pride event, is now saying that the military’s ban on transgender Americans serving in the armed forces “should be reviewed.” He said in an inteview that “every qualified American who wants to serve our country should have an opportunity if they fit the qualifications and can do it.” His biggest concern is “being able to provide medical support to transgender troops, especially for those in what he called “‘austere locations.'” An independent commission led by a former U.S. surgeon general says that there are 15,450 transgender personnel who serve currently in the active, Guard, and reserve components of the military.
Okay conservative Christians, is this what it will finally take to get you to stop sending your sons off to the military? Is the possibility of your son having a transgender sergeant what will finally cause you to question the institution of the military? One would hope that because the United States military launched “201 out of the 248 armed conflicts since the end of WWII” that you would not be so supportive of the military, but if your son serving with Sergeant LGBT is what it will take, then so be it.9:37 am on May 20, 2014
