Here’s yet another aggressive and costly campaign to protect you from the bogeyman. For someone who almost never watches television, I cannot believe how many times I saw this commercial on TV over the course of a few days as I was passing through public places, or just watching the news late at night. Then I noticed some very obvious goings-on in one particular zone as I drove home from work last night. Jack-booted thugs had their scary-looking Chargers in blue lined up everywhere along a half-mile strip.
It turns out Michigan just kicked up its usual revenue collection scheme — Click It or Ticket, which is now called Buckle Up or Pay Up. Note that the crusade logo bears the moronic repetition.
The amazing thing is that this absolutely sophomoric commercial is playing over and over and over, in place of paid programming. It’s really stupefying to think that we are bilked for millions of dollars to pay for a totalitarian offensive that is directed at us by a bunch of plebs who are called public servants because we supposedly pay them to serve us, the public. Pay attention to the commercial (a 30-second spot) where it warns that “you may see an officer to your right, to your left, behind, or in front of you.” The whole spot — which carries a totalitarian, servile bent — is a puerile cartoon with mom-and-pop, 50s-style melody loop that belongs in a commercial advertising for pink dresses and cotton candy. As usual, dumbed-down Americanus Stupidus is at peace with the enslavement as long as the servitude is sold as a carnival ride for their enjoyment and benefit.
