According to a recent story (which was also noted in the Detroit News), the state of Michigan’s seat belt-o-rama netted the state some nice profit after the costs were borne by the federal government’s tax slaves. Essentially, you may have paid the state twice to screw you over: once to fund the mega-scam that was federally funded under a safety mantra, and then a second time on the ticket, if you were one of the unfortunate victims of a double whammy.
