Lew: I figured that the Russert extravaganza would probably not make it into the seventh day, but I was wrong. How many more days will this continue?
The entire spectacle reminds me of the old Blake Edwards film, “S.O.B.” It was about a well-known Hollywood producer who died, with the Hollywood crowd holding an A-list funeral for him, at which various of the mourners spent their time trying to negotiate deals, etc. In the meantime, the producer’s few genuine friends – headed up by William Holden – had managed to steal his body from the mortuary, hold a John Barrymore style wake for him, and then put his body in a boat at the ocean and gave him a viking funeral.
