The “lust for power” that St. Augustine condemned and that drives politicians, is missing from Ron Paul, who wants office to restore liberty. Is it also missing from Fred Thompson? I keep wondering if he will resist neocon pressure to run, since he seems to be happy with his present life, and may not want the attacks that would come his way.
How ironic that Cheney’s lust for power, and Bush’s insecurity with a VP who would want to run for president, have left the Repubs with no crown prince. So without an annointed candidate, there is a real opening for Ron, whether Thompson runs or not. Thank you, Cheney-Bush!
