According to the Washington Post, Ron Paul is the fourth most independent and nonpartisan member of Congress. They base this on how often he votes contrary to the majority of Republicans. It is interesting that the three members ahead of him are all Republicans in Democratic states whose political survival may well depend on voting with the Democrats on occasion.
