He implied he was sacrificing his personal ambition in “wartime” to save the country from the Democrats.
Let’s see now. He was a dead man walking after Florida; got killed on Super Tuesday; had zero chance to win the nomination; didn’t want to waste any more of his own money; knows McCain would lose, and wants to save himself for 2012.
