Major General James C. McConville spent Christmas Eve with his soldiers in Afghanistan. “A lot of Americans will wake up tomorrow and have a peaceful day, and that’s thanks to you,” he told the troops. The troops also received a lying video message from their commander in chief that said: “Our extraordinary men and women in uniform are serving so that the rest of us can enjoy the blessings we cherish during the holidays.” But it’s all worth it because “the general also delivered presents in the form of special Army coins to troops who’d completed three or more deployments.”
