Resisting Mandatory Flu Shots

Don Miller, MD, advises a young colleague:

“In dealing with mandatory flu shots, you might try to educate and get a group of doctors and nurses to stand together and say no. Give them copies of my LRC article Avoid Flu Shots, Take Vitamin D Instead (and give it to the hospital system people as well).

“You may have legal recourse if fired.

“What some hospitals in Seattle do is say that if you refuse the shot, you will have to wear a mask at work. That is what I will do if mandated to have the shot, which I will refuse to accept. You might hold them to that.

“Also, I’ve thought about getting the hospital to sign a statement that makes it liable for any complications, like Guillain-Barre syndrome, one might sustain from getting the flu shot. That might make them reconsider forcing vaccination.”

UPDATE from Jean Leonard:

“Last year a local hospital was required by New York State to vaccinate all employees. To avoid controversy, they handed nurses the shots and put them in a room with no windows, telling them to return the empty needle. No one knew if the shot went in someone’s arm — or down the drain.”
