Regarding Cops and Self-Defense

Karen, your post makes a lot of sense, and I would like to add one more point: Cops shoot and kill people who are much less aggressive than the shooting victim in the account you have given us. Furthermore, even after killing people in cold blood, cops rarely face any sanctions and are given a paid vacation to boot. (They call it “paid leave.”)

So I think we have to understand the perspective. In the case you have presented, no doubt lots of people will claim that this is a reason why private individuals should not be permitted to carry guns. However, I never have seen anyone declare that cops should not be permitted to carry firearms after we see a police officer gun down unarmed and non-threatening people.
