Ready to Wave The Magic Wand

For those who are wondering what Congress is doing to help — because that’s all we’re supposed to do, just stand around while are betters and our managers plan, supervise and appropriate — Congress will soon be doing what it does best:

WASHINGTON (Dow Jones)–House and Senate leaders are considering a $10 billion emergency aid bill to assist victims of Hurricane Katrina, a congressional aide said Thursday. Congress could approve the measure in a special session as early as Friday.

House Speaker Dennis Hastert, R-Ill., intends to reconvene the House of Representatives Friday for a special session to approve emergency funding for victims of Hurricane Katrina, a spokesman said.

“The House will most likely come in at noon tomorrow,” Hastert spokesman Ron Bonjean said.

With what money, exactly? Where will it come from? Will it seemingly appear out of thin air? Oh, right, we’re talking about Federal Reserve Notes. Of course it will appear out of thin air.
