Lew: Don’t be too harsh on Kimmel. We all speak from our experiences, and relating Ron Paul to a “Scooby-Doo” cartoon is probably pushing the limits of this boob’s prior learning. He probably thinks that the “business cycle” is something CEOs use for exercise!

These media dinners rarely bring in speakers with the kind of humor that would make the powerful cringe. No Lenny Bruces or George Carlins, but those whom the politicos can find comfort with. Voltaire once said that “God is a comedian whose audience is afraid to laugh.” In this age of Empire, one judges the propriety of “humor” by whether the Emperor is amused.
