Lew, not only should we individualists refuse to allow the state to include us in the royal “we”–but, as Frank Chodorov noted in his great On Doing Something About It,

The anarchists say the State is evil. They are wrong. The State are evil. It is not a system that creates privilege, it is a number of morally responsible people who do so.

Maybe we individualists should sometimes use the plural verb are instead of the singular is in describing the State to pin the blame on the actual people responsible. (And while we’re at it, let’s restore the practice of saying “the United States are,” to reject the insidious Lincolnian semantic switch from are to is.)
