Lew, twenty-three years ago I quoted Ayn Rand as having perfectly described the totalitarian mindset of those who want to enslave “the youth” in national socialist service.  As Ayn Rand wrote,the “unnamed principle” behind government-enforced “national service” is:

“Developing yourself into a productive, ambitious, independent person, is not regarded as a value to the United States; turning yourself into an abject sacrificial animal is.”

At the time the former CIA agent William F. Buckley, Jr, who had once written that what America needed for the Cold War was to create “a totalitarian bureaucracy within our shores,” had just written a book advocating national service slavery.
