David, a very nice, responsible, mainstream couple I know told me that they made a “conscious decision” to not baby-proof their home for their soon-to-be 2-year-old. Would they be in violation of the nanny-state-nannies’ rules? It’s not that they hope their child gets hurt, but that they think this is the best environment to raise a happy, healthy child. Shame on them for thinking for themselves!
I shudder to think what would have been done to my parents if the state had cared to find out the lack of child-proofing they did in their home. It’s a wonder I made it to my 18th birthday without the protection of the state!
