Re: Merchants of Death Cheer

Wow Lew so much in your Ryan link — you did not do it justice! Might I just compile a little bill of particulars to put a finer point on the matter?

From the article:

1) “In recent months, Ryan has been receiving briefings from Elliott Abrams, George W. Bush’s former Middle East director at the National Security Council, and Fred Kagan, one of the architects of the military surges in Iraq and Afghanistan…”

2) “The Republican chairman of the House Armed Services Committee, Howard ‘Buck’ McKeon, said he was ‘very happy’ with the Ryan pick.”

3) “Danielle Pletka, the vice president for foreign- and defense-policy studies at the [neo-]conservative American Enterprise Institute: ‘[Ryan] understands the primary role of the federal government is the national defense and not the handing out of food stamps.'”

Does anything more need to be said about the neo-conservatives’ triumphant return to the heart of the Republican Party after an on-again, off-again illicit affair with Obama on matters such as Libya, Afghanistan surge, a tactical alliance on humanitarian interventionism? So tawdry it was, but now they are back. With Romney. With Ryan. With a bang!
