Lew: I knew Jack for many years, and I can think of no one who was a more humane human or peaceful person than he. He had a most thoughtful mind, and was willing to explore concepts and ideas that added to his truly creative thinking. There are many “libertarians” in our world, but few who, like Jack, could be called a “libertarian’s libertarian.”
We would see one another at various libertarian functions here in California, as well as at Doug Casey’s annual “Eris Society” meetings in Aspen. When a former student of mine threw a surprise birthday party for me a few years ago, Jack and our mutual friend, Jay Snelson, drove from Orange County to Phoenix for the occasion. In addition to his life of integrity and civility, Jack was also a dear friend. He will be missed by those of us blessed to have known him; his influence will be missed by those who did not know him.
