David, your post also reminds me that when government agents go in search of DNA, they are not trying just to “solve” existing crimes, but also want a DNA base so they can plant “evidence” that will permit them to solve future crimes. If cops and prosecutors are willing to plant other kinds of evidence, they will be all-too-happy to put DNA markers in convenient places.
