Lew: Even worse, in this film, is the song, performed by Crosby, to celebrate July 4th. The entire production is a celebration of war – with a montage of battleships, bombers, explosions, and bomber factories in abundance – ending with a picture of FDR and the stars-and-stripes. Wouldn’t Sam Adams, Jefferson, et. al., have been pleased to see this “celebration” of the importance of independence from state power?
