re: Grammar Grumble

Becky, I don’t mind when a female writer chooses to use feminine pronouns rather than the traditional male pronouns. It actually makes more sense to me nowadays. But it does drive me nuts when a male writer does that. He’s either doing it to try to be “progressive” or else he’s being the typical “guilt-ridden” left-wing wimpy male trying to “atone” for the past “sins” of male-dominated society. I remember the textbook I was assigned for an introductory computer programming class back in the late 1980s made it a point in the introduction that the male authors decided to use feminine pronouns throughout the book rather than the traditional male pronouns.
