Mike, what is really amazing about Bush (and all American politicians) is they brag about how compassionate they are when spending money stolen from the taxpayer. The Christian Coalition has also praised Bush for distributing stolen goods overseas. I guess the religious right believes that “Thou Shall Not Steal” does not apply to Republican Presidents.

True Christian charity comes from private individuals who give their own money because they want to help the less fortunate, instead of giving away other people’s money so they can issue press releases about how wonderful they are or score PR points for the American empire. It would not surprise me if American citizens end up giving more money than the American state (or the states of Europe and Asia), and that private donations are the ones that actually help people.
