Lew, whenever the subject of the “superior” single-payer healthcare system of Great Britain comes up, I always find it important to recommend the excellent study done by Goodman, Musgrave, and Herrick: Lives at Risk: Single-Payer National Health Insurance Around the World.

Not surprisingly, I found it to be an inadvertent primer version of Mises’s Socialism in that it shows all of the inefficiencies that occur when a competitive pricing system is not established for limited goods and services in a marketplace.
