Lew, although I don’t agree with Charles Murray that CIA torture saved America from terrorists, his analysis of white intellectuals is dead-on. Being both an academic and a scientist (so firmly rooted in the “Intellectual Upper” bubble in his graph), I mostly interact with other IUs and they really do believe that everyone agrees with them. On the occasion when they realize that there may be someone who doesn’t agree, the average IU chalks it up to being stupid (or worse).
It’s why I enjoy spending time with family (libertarian or not) and fellow Ron Paul supporters, and why I try to get to the Mises Institute events whenever I can. It’s also why I read LRC and the LvMI blog everyday. Otherwise, I might start to believe that everyone does agree with IUs.
