Rangel Wrangles With Wrongdoing

Last May, I reported that Rep. Charles Rangel (D-NY) had been under investigation in 2008 for failing to report some real estate income. I guess where there’s smoke there’s fire. Representative Rangel has now temporarily stepped down as Chairman of the powerful House Ways and Means Committee due to allegations of wrongdoings by accepting reimbursements from corporations for travel expenses. But it gets even worse. The Associated Press is now reporting that unlucky Chucky is being investigated for a slew of improprieties—from using his position in Congress for financial benefit to his outside interests to the usual failure to report certain personal financial interests. Ah, how this mighty is falling.
