Radiating Regulation

As the media busily generates fear of an impending nuclear radiation from Japan, will the government (predictably) respond by adding even more controls to its long-in-place efforts to regulate the production and sale of food? Can raw milk or the produce from farmers’ markets be assured of wholesomeness? Can we trust independent farmers to test for plutonium particles that might be traceable to the nuclear power plant explosions — or, for that matter, from the fiendish plots of terrorists? Don’t we have to rely on the incestuous cooperative efforts of the state and major corporations to protect us from such threats?
