The Phoenix, a “progressive” Boston paper, warns about the reasoning of a federal judge in Boston who argued that the Defense of Marriage Act violated the Tenth Amendment.  That’s nice in this particular case, says the Phoenix, but if we really take this principle seriously, it could mean the end of federal welfare programs!  Thus a law professor is quoted as saying that the judge in question “has offered a road map to attack a wide range of federal welfare programs, including health-care reform. No matter how much they might like the result in this particular case, this is not a road that liberals want to travel.” Nationalism yesterday, nationalism today, nationalism forever!
