Portable Tax Collectors

Portable Tax Collectors (PTC). Karen, that’s what I call them in NY.

I was in traffic court on Friday for a friend. Otherwise, I stay clear. There were hundreds of people there being separated from their scarce funds and made to go to driving school, whatever that is.

I had a challenge to the charge based on a technicality but I had seen the courts ignore that argument before, so I got out of there with just a fine, no school.

But there is no doubt these tickets are just another tax.

Two years ago, I was down in Florida for a few days and was astonished when I saw my first PTC after three days. I guess they don’t need the money as bad as NY does.

Update:

In case you weren’t being tongue in cheek when you said, “There were hundreds of people there being separated from their scarce funds and made to go to driving school, whatever that is.”

Driving school is another tax, it just goes to a politically connected piece of scum who takes your money for their driving school and that gets the points against your license removed or reduced. It is very similar to the tax that insurance companies are allowed to levy on us for getting a speeding ticket or whatever else they can stick it to you for. Both are taxes paid to politically connected businesses that have paid our politicians to pass legislation that gives these supposed businesses the right to steal our money.
