The Republicans are dancing on his grave, and no question he is a crook (like virtually all politicians), and has advocated horrendous policies like the draft, but come on—are we really supposed to think that he or another crook, Maxine Waters, is The Problem? Take away his committee chairmanship, fine. Take away all his seniority, too, but the Red Guards-style public shaming of an old man strikes me as, well, shameful, and a chance for the neocons to distract us once again from the State and its depredations.
