Political Commissar

I must be really behind the times, because no one has commented on what struck me the most in the UNLV letter to Hoppe: “…an administrative review and subsequent report and recommendation was submitted to your Dean by the University’s Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity (AA/EEO) Officer.”

Let us be clear about what this AA/EEO Officer(!) is. This is an explicit political officer whose job is to look for political crimes. My dictionary defines commissar as: “An official of the Communist Party in charge of political indoctrination and the enforcement of party loyalty.” I would say it is not much of a stretch to call this AA/EEO Officer a Commissar. When did this happen?!? When did we start having Commissars stationed at universities? Are they at businesses also? Am I the only one that thinks this means that the totalitarian nightmare isn’t coming, it is, sans concentration camps, already here?
