Yesterday, a line of black SUVs disgorged a federal swat cabal carrying automatic weapons. They stormed a dangerous criminal site on the coast of Georgia: a small catering service whose owners are suspected of trying to keep their own money. The pillagers swooped in during the business day, to make the biggest possible public impact, stopping traffic, handcuffing the owners, and interrogating the customers. Yes, it’s law enforcement.

Meanwhile, over at the local socialist-football stadium, any spectator carrying a bag or pocketbook has it thoroughly searched by guards looking for demon rum. Even creepier, plain-clothes functionaries roam the cement colossus seeking out customers sneaking a drink. No matter that they paid hundreds or even thousands of dollars for their seats: they are humiliated and tossed out. I wonder: can naked-scanners be far behind?
