Under the guise of (you guessed it), “security,” the police in DC are going to start using military-style checkpoints around certain areas of the District of Criminals. From the article: “Police will search cars if they suspect the presence of guns or drugs, and will arrest people who do not cooperate, under a charge of failure to obey a police officer.”
Here’s DC mayor Fenty: “In certain areas, we need to go beyond the normal methods of policing…We’re going to go into an area and completely shut it down to prevent shootings and the sale of drugs.”
Eliminate gun laws in DC and decriminalize all substances and their use. Watch crime drop by a good 80%, perhaps quite literally overnight. Then the government police should be completely shut down.
