Excuse the title, but it’s nauseating how easily the state can buy off whole segments of the population. The people at the National Labs are excited to hear how the DOE will spend its part of the Depression Package since they are getting a big chunk. Of course, all scientists are supposed to be excited about this – it is in the name of advancing science.
I believe that the University of California system (which by definition has Gov. Schwarzenegger sitting on the board) still has the contract to run some of the labs in California, so American taxpayers are being forced to hand over at least $115 million to be managed by a state that is essentially bankrupt.
